A picture on the page, not a certificate
People pay for a PDF editor and then find the signature button sits behind another plan. This tab does not. You draw a name, type it, or drop a scan of it, put that image on the page you meant, add a date if you want one, and download. There is no account and no watermark on the file.
The mark is an image. Anyone with the download can see it. Anyone with another copy of this tab can put a similar mark on another file. If you need a certificate, a named signer, or a log of who opened what, this is not that product. A bank or a court that asked for that kind of signing has its own list. Check that list before you treat this download as the real thing.
Draw, type, or drop a scan
The pad is for a finger or a mouse. Type if you want the name in italic Times on a transparent PNG. Upload if you already have a PNG or a JPEG of a signature on paper. WebP and GIF go through a canvas in this tab and come out as PNG. The signature file stops at 8,000,000 bytes. The PDF stops at 40,000,000 bytes. Both caps are SI, counted in this sitting.

The page you are looking at
Pick the page, drag the box, resize the corner. Arrow keys nudge it by four points. The smallest box this tab will write is eight points on a side. The preview is PDF.js 5.4.530, worker 1,072,841 bytes, served from this site, not from a CDN. A page stored sideways is flattened to upright before the image is drawn so the name stays where you put it. Open the download. If the mark is on the wrong leaf, come back, change the page, download again.
A file over about 1,000,000 bytes stamps in a worker, with a progress number and a cancel. Cancel is checked before the write and after it. A huge scan can still freeze the tab for a few seconds while pdf-lib writes. That is this browser, not an upload. A locked PDF has to be unlocked first. This tab will not guess a password.
Typed names are pixels
A typed name looks like text. It is pixels. Helvetica inside pdf-lib is latin-1, so a name with ß or a Cyrillic letter would vanish or throw. This tab paints the letters on a canvas with UTF-8, then stamps that PNG. You cannot select the letters later. You can read them.
Draw if you want your own hand. Type if you want something readable at twelve points. You can also drop a scan of a name you already wrote on paper. Each path writes the same kind of PNG. Black ink is #111827. Blue ink is #1d4ed8.
The date is optional ink
The date switch is on by default. ISO looks like 2026-09-18. Long looks like September 18, 2026. Both use this machine's timezone. The date is Helvetica under the mark. It is not a timestamp server, and it is not a lock.
Mixpanel sees the knob names, a size bucket, and whether a download happened. It does not get the PDF. If you came here because a privacy page promised zero third-party scripts, that is not this site, and I will not write that sentence.
Packets and Word files
If the pages are still separate files, join them first on Merge PDF. If the contract is still a .docx, convert it on Word to PDF Converter, then bring that PDF here. Both stay in the tab.
The download name is the original plus -signed.pdf. Rename it once you have it. A client name in a default filename is how a packet leaks in a screenshot. Copy link shares the date switch, the date format, and the ink color. It does not put the PDF in the URL. Clear settings wipes those knobs from this browser. The file and the drawing are already gone when the tab closes.
Common questions
Does this page upload my PDF?
No. The file stays in this tab. After the page has loaded, including the 1,072,841 byte PDF.js worker from this site, you can unplug the cable and still draw a name and download. Mixpanel and Google Analytics load with Softery.io. They see that someone opened the tool, which knobs moved, and whether a download happened. They do not get the PDF or the signature.
Is this a legal electronic signature?
No. This tab puts a picture of a name on a page, plus an optional date. It does not issue a certificate, keep an audit trail, or lock the file. A bank or a court that wants that kind of signing needs a different product. Check their rules before you treat this download as the real thing.
Where does the signature go when I close the tab?
Away. Direction of the ink, the date switch and the date format sit in this browser under softery.sign-pdf.settings. The PDF and the drawing are not stored. Clear settings puts the knobs back. Copy link shares those knobs. It does not put the file in the URL.
What happens to a rotated page?
The mark is placed on the page you are looking at. A page stored at 90, 180 or 270 degrees is flattened to upright before the image is drawn, so the name stays where you put it when you open the file. Open the download and check that page. A locked PDF has to be unlocked first.
