Merge PDF

Drop PDFs, drag the pages into order, download one file. Nothing is uploaded. No account.

Drop PDFs or a zip of PDFs

They stay in this tab.

The merge happens in this tab

Most merge pages are a form in front of a server. You drop a tax return, they store it, they stitch the pages, and then they ask you to make an account before you can have your own file back. This page does not do that. Once the JavaScript has loaded, the files stay in memory here. Open the network panel, drop two PDFs, and you will not see them go out.

That is why it still works on a plane and why there is no daily quota. The files people merge are usually the ones they would rather not put on someone else's disk: a W-2, a medical bill, a passport scan, a court packet. Saying "nothing is transmitted" is not a slogan here. It is the whole product.

Thumbnails are for sorting, not for reading

Each page gets a small picture so you can see which one is the cover letter and which one is page two of the lease. Drag a card, or use the arrows, and the download follows that order. Remove a page if you dropped the wrong file. The preview is compressed on purpose. A sharp preview would mean drawing every page at print size in this tab, and that is not what you came here to do.

The file you download is built from the original pages with pdf-lib. A fuzzy thumbnail does not mean a fuzzy PDF. If a page looks blank in the grid, the source may be a scan with no text layer, or the file may be locked. A locked PDF has to be unlocked first. This page will not guess a password.

The other sites want the file

A front page You Should Know post, 19,785 upvotes, said a free converter set 637 cookies from 221 domains on one upload. That is the market this page is walking away from. The merge itself is not hard. Keeping the file off a server is the part the incumbents skip, because an upload is how they meter you and how they show you an ad.

I am not going to tell you those sites never work. They work until the fourth task in an hour, or until the fifty-first page, or until the download button turns into a plan. If you have one packet to assemble tonight, you should not have to learn their meter.

A zip is just a folder

Office staff often get a zip of client PDFs. Drop that zip here and the pages come out the same way a loose PDF does. Files that are not PDFs stay in the zip and never become pages. You can mix a zip and a single PDF in one session. The download is still one file.

There is no watermark and no "made with" footer. The output name is merged-N-pages.pdfso a client name never ends up in a default download. Rename it after you have it.

Common questions

Does this page upload my files?

No. The PDFs stay in this tab. The merge runs in JavaScript here. After the page has loaded there is no request that has to succeed for the download to work. Unplug the cable and you can still drop files and get one PDF back.

Is there a page limit or a daily cap?

No. Some free converters stop at three tasks an hour and fifty pages. This page does not count tasks and does not count pages. The only limit is the memory in this browser.

Can I drop a zip of PDFs?

Yes. A zip is unpacked in this tab. Files that are not PDFs are skipped. Each PDF inside becomes pages you can reorder. The zip itself never leaves the machine.

Why does a thumbnail look fuzzy?

The thumbnail is a small preview so you can sort pages. It is not the page that goes into the download. The download copies the original page, not the preview image.

I wrote up why the upload-and-meter sites keep winning the search, and why a local merge is the boring fix, in The Merge Never Left the Tab.

Two more that also stay in the tab. The Markdown to PDF converter never sends the draft, and the password generator never sees the password. All of the free tools work the same way: the useful bit runs here.
